How do I… search?
Simply type the name or term you want to look up in the search box –
this will retrieve all matching results from our database, so the
list may be long. To narrow your results, please use the “Advanced
Search” link (just below the red “Search” button) which offers a
number of ways to tune your search to a narrower set of data.

How do I… browse the data?
If you prefer, you can click on the terms listed in the four columns
below the search to browse the top-level categories. You can then
refine the results using the "Advanced Search" feature.
How do I… view the maps?
Simply click on the “Map” link where shown to view a PDF of a map
of the country or city relevant to the data entry. There are maps
covering almost every country that operates a significant rail
network, as well as more detailed maps of urban areas covering
most of the world’s major city networks.
When is the data revised?
We update the information on the RailwayDirectory website as
soon as we receive new information, so you get the most accurate
information possible. Maps are checked and revised annually, but
major network changes will be included as soon as possible.
I've not found what I was looking for - What should I do?
Our aim is to provide fast access to the data you need. If you can’t
find it, we would really appreciate it if you could let us know about
the problem using the “

What is the Railway Directory?
Railway Directory is the international rail industry
reference work, covering operators, statutorybodies, manufacturers,
suppliers and services. For more information see “About us”.
When was Railway Directory established?
The first edition was published in 1895.
When was the Railway Directory website launched?
After production of a CD-ROM version in 1998, an online Railway
Directory was launched in 2001. The current website was redeveloped
in early 2009 and went live in September 2009 – although the content
is updated most days.
Who produces Railway Directory?
Railway Gazette International is the parent publication, owned
by DVV Media UK Ltd . Our parent company, DVV MediaGmbH, produces a
wide range of products across the transport publishing sector (see
the links at the foot of each page).
4. Contributors:
Who provides information for Railway Directory?
Our network of correspondents across the world works with the Editor
of the Railway Directory to monitor changes and update
content as soon as possible.
Can my company be listed too?
If you represent a supplier or railway operator, please click on the
“Add Company” button, which will guide you through the information
we will need. The Editor will then review this and if suitable will
compile an appropriate entry. Suppliers can raise their profile by
requesting an enhanced data entry, which could include your company
logo and additional information.
Can I provide other information?
We welcome contributions of up-to-date information, both for Railway
Directory and for the magazine Railway Gazette International.
